One Technical Thing That Actually Helps

There's a simple code addition that tells AI exactly what your page is about. Most sites don't use it.

AI has to guess what your page is

When AI reads your site, it has to figure out: is this a product page? A company page? A blog post? A person's bio?

Usually it guesses based on the content. Sometimes it guesses wrong.

You can tell it directly

There's a thing called structured data. It's a bit of code you add to your page that explicitly tells AI: "This is a Product. The name is X. The price is Y."

It's like a cheat sheet for AI.

What this looks like

You add a small script to your page with information like:

  • Type: Product, Company, Person, Article
  • Name: Your product or company name
  • Description: What it does
  • Other details: price, founding date, etc.

Most website builders have plugins that add this automatically.

Does it matter?

Yes. Pages with structured data are clearer to AI. AI is more confident about what the page is, so it's more likely to mention it.

If you're comfortable with a bit of code (or have someone who is), this is worth adding.

How to check

Google has a free tool called the Rich Results Test. Paste your URL and it shows you what structured data you have.

If you see nothing, that's an opportunity.
